Yoga and Pilates.

Two ways to move, one habit of attention.

Yoga belongs to no single country or faith. India nurtured it early, kept it alive and carried it for more than two thousand years, and today it belongs to everyone who practices it: in parks, studios and living rooms on every continent, among people of every faith and of none. At its heart it is simple: posture, breath and stillness, and the attention that grows from them.

Pilates is younger. Joseph Pilates developed his method in the early twentieth century and taught it in New York from 1926. It builds strength from the center of the body with slow, controlled movement.
